Would you like your school to make its mark?

'The Big Brum Draw' is all about getting people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds involved in drawing in its many forms. In our centenary year, we would love the young people of Birmingham to play a fundamental part in showing us how they view their city now and how they would like to see it in the future. 'Forward' is Birmingham's motto and so it seemed fitting, in the bicentenary year of Matthew Boulton, to look to our young Brummies for a 'snapshot' of Birmingham now and in the future as they see it.

It is then our intention to exhibit the children's work at a location to be confirmed at the end of our October events.

How can my school make its mark?

Working from three possible themes, we would love your school to produce a piece of art, using as many weird and wonderful mark-making techniques as possible. It would be great if your pupils could contribute to one large scale piece, but, if this is difficult in any way, we will be just as happy to see work on a smaller scale.

The Themes

1) Redesign the Birmingham coat of arms

2) 'My Brum' (how do children see their city? This could be a depiction of their favourite place in the region)

3) 'Keep Moving Forward' - design a new building for Birmingham (look at iconic buildings in Birmingham. Can you redesign them? Can you create something even more futuristic than the Selfridges building?)
